Angels Camp earns Firewise recognition for ZIP code 95222; organizers plan countywide festival

Steve Wilcox, leader of the local Firewise group, presented the City of Angels with an official recognition sign and told the City Council on Oct. 7 that the entire 95222 ZIP code is now a certified Firewise Community.
The designation, Wilcox said, recognizes community work to reduce wildfire risk in neighborhoods and can trigger initial insurance discounts. “My pleasure present the city of Angels with their official recognition sign of being a certified Firewise,” Wilcox said. He added the group is focusing next on home-hardening outreach and voluntary property inspections to increase discounts.
