Advisory board weighs moving Sept. 25 meeting after multiple planned absences

Members of the Farmers Branch Historical Park Advisory Board on Aug. 28 raised the possibility of moving the scheduled Sept. 25 meeting after several members reported planned absences.
At the start of the meeting, a board member asked, “Can we add potentially to, move the September 25 meeting since we know at least 2 of us will be gone?” Board members later discussed specific alternative dates, including the week before or the week after Sept. 25 and a possible Tuesday meeting on Sept. 23.
“No. I won't be here the week before,” one member said; others noted conflicting travel and class schedules. At one point a member observed, “If 3 are already not gonna be here on the 25th, we'll just have to tell [staff],” indicating at least three planned absences were reported in the meeting.
There was no formal motion to reschedule. The board agreed to pause the decision while staff manager Hillary Kidd (not present) and staff coordinated availability; members were asked to email their availability. Sharon Montgomery said she would “get with Hillary” and the item was tabled for follow-up.
The board also noted that elections will be held in September and that the current secretary said she is willing to step down after four years; members agreed to discuss replacements at a future meeting.
