Superintendent Dr. Bob McBride told families that 431 students in Lockport Township High School District 205 achieved national distinction as Advanced Placement scholars, reflecting multiple AP exam scores at or above the proficiency level required for potential college credit.
McBride said the AP recognition pairs with Joliet Junior College’s acknowledgement of Lockport Township High School District 205 as the top dual-credit school among the 26 high schools that feed into the college. “It’s an amazing feat,” he said, adding that the district offers more dual-credit opportunities and that students earn more dual credit than any other high school in the Joliet Junior College service area.
The superintendent noted the district’s college-preparation strategy includes both Advanced Placement and dual-credit pathways so students can earn college credit in high school. He also said the district was profiled by ABC News for these accomplishments.
District officials did not provide a breakdown of which courses or demographics produced the AP scholar totals during the briefing, nor did they specify how many college credits students had earned through the dual-credit program.
