MERRIAM, Kan. — A resident told the council the lighting on the Johnson Drive bridge over Turkey Creek has been “strobing on and off” for roughly six months and asked the city to investigate.
Dan Leape of 5848 Merriam Drive described the appearance as “looks like a disco” and said he has video evidence from six months ago and a recent recording. He told the council he had emailed the public works director but had not received an update.
“Sometimes the rope lights or whatever go, and then the street lights and the lights under the bridge for the Streamway Trail blink off and on,” Leape said during public comment. The mayor replied that staff would bring the matter to the attention of the public works director and that the department would check into it.
No formal staff report or timeline for repairs was provided at the meeting; the issue was recorded during the public comment period and staff committed to follow up through public works.
