New superintendent outlines entry plan and schedules community meet-and-greets

Dr. Joseph Patrick, who began his role as superintendent less than two weeks earlier, used the July 11 board meeting to introduce his superintendent entry plan and announce upcoming community engagement opportunities.
"Tonight marks my eighth day on the job," Dr. Joseph Patrick said. He described a four-phase entry plan included in the board packet: an introductory stage; a 40-day "listening to understand" phase of meetings with staff and constituents; a "making sense" phase that synthesizes data and conversations to define current reality and possible directions; and an "engagement and planning" phase to prepare material for strategic planning.
Patrick said the district will schedule meet-and-greets for staff, students, parents and community members and that the entry plan will be reviewed with the board at a future retreat. "I have an open door policy... We're also gonna be posting some meet and greet events," he said, and encouraged community members to check the superintendent page on the district website and Facebook for announcements.
Board members praised the plan as a useful foundation for understanding district strengths and challenges during a transition year. Patrick emphasized his immediate priority is listening and building relationships with staff and community, rather than making early sweeping changes.
The board did not take action on the entry plan at the meeting; Patrick said he would present a finalized version after completing the listening phase and retreat review.
