Lapeer commission approves multiple wastewater treatment plant capital purchases

The Lapeer City Commission approved several capital improvement purchases for the wastewater treatment plant on June 16, including a half-ton Ford F-150 pickup, a Kubota utility vehicle, and a powered entrance gate.

Commissioner Swindell moved the purchases; all passed by roll-call vote. The pickup (F-150 super cab) was authorized from Longham Ford for $46,522; staff said the city selected a half-ton model rather than a three-quarter-ton to reduce cost and that the vehicle will be used flexibly across departments. The Kubota RTV-X1100C utility vehicle was authorized from Flint New Holland Inc. for $22,992.44 to support plant operations. The city also authorized purchase and installation of a powered entrance gate for the wastewater plant from Michigan Fence Company Inc. for up to $19,552 to improve site security and limit public access to chemical and treatment areas.
