The City of Hollywood on Oct. 9 approved plans for Hillcrest Village, an 8‑story, 110‑unit affordable housing development proposed for 1101 Hillcrest Drive.
The commission passed, on second reading, a PUD amendment and separately approved the project’s site plan and design; both votes were unanimous. The project is led by Housing Trust Group (HTG) and will include a mix of one‑, two‑ and three‑bedroom units targeted to households earning from roughly 30% up to 80% of area median income (AMI).
Why it matters: commissioners and staff said the city and Broward County face an acute shortage of cost‑restricted housing for lower income households. City and developer witnesses pointed to recent HTG projects in Hollywood that leased rapidly after completion: University Station, HTG’s most recent Hollywood complex, had "all 216 units leased up" within weeks of receiving its certificate of occupancy, the applicant said.
