Waukegan CUSD 60 said its Diverse Learners Department will launch a free virtual Parent Advocacy Leadership (PAIL) training this fall to help families navigate the special education process in Illinois.
Nicholas Alaczakis, director of communications for Waukegan Public Schools, said the program covers Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), evaluations and student rights. Sessions for English speakers begin Sept. 9 and sessions in Spanish begin Sept. 10; both run weekly through October.
The district described the training as a free resource for parents and caregivers. Those interested were directed to register on the district website.
The announcement listed the start dates and languages but did not provide session times, registration deadlines or a course syllabus in the weekly update; those details were referred to the district's online registration page.
