County hears quarterly community coordinator update on downtown planning, broadband and projects

Amy Rowe, the county community coordinator, presented a quarterly report summarizing progress on downtown planning, water-utility planning for Pearson, a broadband project, and the Blue Way Greenway and Chin-Chinworth Bridge planning. Rowe told commissioners most projects are on track to meet fourth-quarter goals and reported that some construction milestones are anticipated no later than summer 2025.
Rowe highlighted local planning work in Sydney and Claypool, including a Community Foundation grant submission for strategic planning assistance and ongoing broadband and downtown-planning grant searches. She said planning work would be sent to OCCRA for review by the quarter’s end and described coordination with local towns to support grant applications and project execution.
Commissioners thanked Rowe for the coordination work and said small-town engagement was improving, noting the county aims to help towns be more competitive for grants and to advance infrastructure projects. No formal action was required; the presentation served as an informational update to the board.
