KEDCO wins $75,000 from county special projects fund for regional promotion and housing predevelopment

Peggy Bridal, director of KEDCO (the Kosciusko County Economic Development Organization), asked commissioners to release $75,000 from the county\'s special projects fund to support economic-development activity and attainable-housing predevelopment work.
Bridal said the county has $137,007.79 remaining in the special projects fund and requested three $25,000 allocations: one for 2024 dues to the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership to access state programs and marketing resources; one to sponsor the 2025 Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Indianapolis to promote the county\'s assets; and one to support a grant-discovery program and predevelopment activities that would help smaller communities pursue attainable housing.
“We\'re asking for a total of $75,000… It\'s in our special projects. There\'s a $137,007.79 left in 2024 in that fund, and so we\'re just requesting $75,000 of that,” Bridal said. She described ongoing business attraction work, two recent site visits that alone could bring 1,850 jobs, and partnerships with Purdue MVP and OrthoWorks to help businesses and market the county.
A commissioner moved and seconded Bridal\'s request; the motion passed. Commissioners thanked KEDCO for outreach and noted the request follows the governance rules for the special projects fund, which requires specific commissioner approval for allocations even if money is budgeted.
