Redmond seeks on‑call telecom consulting to support franchise, permit and infrastructure questions

Public works staff presented a proposed on‑call consultant agreement with River Oaks Communication to provide technical assistance on telecommunications infrastructure, franchise agreements and permitting, and asked the Committee of the Whole on Sept. 2 to place the contract on the Sept. 16 consent agenda.

Deputy Director Vanjie Garcia introduced Paul Cho, traffic operations and safety engineering manager, who said the city lacks in‑house subject matter expertise on telecom franchise agreements and master permit questions and that an on‑call agreement will enable faster, technically informed responses and evaluation of financial implications.

No substantive questions were raised in committee and staff asked that the item be placed on the Sept. 16 consent agenda for final action.
