The Mayville Finance Committee voted Oct. 6 to approve the proposed 2026 treasurer's budget after the treasurer reviewed the department's accounts and line-item changes.
The treasurer told the committee she moved special assessments and dog-license accounting into the treasurer's records and noted a decrease in contracted services now that a contract with CLA has closed. She requested additional funding for training and membership dues after her first year in the role, citing conferences through state organizations.
On the floor, an alderperson asked whether the recommended figures were acceptable; the treasurer answered yes. A motion to approve the treasurer's proposed budget was made, seconded and passed by roll call.
Motion and vote: The committee recorded the motion to approve the treasurer's budget, seconded on the floor; the roll call recorded unanimous 'Aye' votes by those present and the motion carried.
The treasurer said overall department staffing and wages were included and that a staff member (Eileen) had been included in wages. The approval does not include new directives to cut or add services; budget balancing for the whole city remains an outstanding matter for future sessions.
