The Lafayette City Council approved claims totaling $1,021,020.75 after review by the Controller's office.
City Controller Jeremy Deals told the council, "Controller's office has reviewed claims totaling $1,021,020.75, and I request board's approval for payment." During questions, Deals clarified that proceeds from the 2023 "Battle of the Badges" concessions were sent to the city and that the city will transmit full payment to the Police Foundation; the Police Foundation will in turn share proceeds with the Fire Foundation. Deals said the amounts are being run through suspense accounts on the city's books.
Council members moved and seconded approval by voice vote. No individual claim line items were discussed in detail during the meeting. The controller's office will process payments according to established city accounting procedures.
