The officer said Nani was found on the side of the highway near Lucerne and that the rescuer was bitten while helping her; because of that she began her time with the shelter under a bite quarantine. “She is ready to go to a forever home,” the Lake County Animal Control officer said.
Shelter staff described Nani as friendly but initially frightened by the incident and “very energetic,” noting she is female and will be spayed before adoption. The officer gave the dog’s kennel as 20 and said she is available at the Lake County shelter at 4949 Hellbush Drive in Lakeport. For adoption questions the officer provided (707) 263-0279.
