The board’s formal action recognized "the accomplishments of Hispanic Americans who helped shape our country" and noted that Hispanic Americans "enrich our classrooms, our neighborhoods, and our places of work," language taken from the proclamation read at the meeting. A board member commented that “any day that we get to celebrate our diversity…is a good thing to acknowledge and recognize,” and observed that the county is seeing a growing Latino population.
Chairing staff opened the floor for public comment; none was offered in person or online. The meeting record shows the board took a photograph after the proclamation was read.
