Board agrees to continue cannabis policy update to Nov. 4 to ensure full quorum for discussion

The Lake County Board of Supervisors agreed by consensus to continue a scheduled presentation and discussion of the county’s cannabis policy update process to Nov. 4 so that all five supervisors can be present for the item.
Chair and board members said they preferred the full board be available for the policy discussion. The chair noted the agricultural advisory committee meeting is scheduled for Oct. 27; staff said they will incorporate any advisory-committee recommendations into the draft ordinance and the planning commission will see the matter on Nov. 13 before Board consideration.
Public comment at the continuance vote was limited to whether the item should be continued; no substantive cannabis policy remarks were taken during that time. Director Maria Turner confirmed staff has sufficient direction from prior meetings to continue drafting the ordinance regardless of the continuance.
Ending: The item will return to the Board of Supervisors on Nov. 4 for substantive discussion and possible action.
