Western Region Town Hall tells Lake County supervisors about levee sediment, roadside dumping and school-safety work

Representatives of the Western Region Town Hall told the Lake County Board of Supervisors that volunteers and county code enforcement have reduced dozens of roadside dump sites, but that long-term problems remain at Pyle Road and in Upper Lake’s levee system.

“The Pyle Road Cleanup Subcommittee has been working on actively cleaning up the area around Pyle Road for about 2 years,” said Dave Hendrick, a Pyle Road subcommittee member. He told supervisors that county code compliance and the COPTER program have helped remove vehicles and trash, and that about 39 dump sites have been “mostly cleaned up.” He warned that some squatters have moved onto nearby reservation land, where county code enforcement and the sheriff say they have limited authority.
