Chief (Sheriff’s Office) described the vehicles as already equipped with police lighting, cameras and some radios; staff noted carriers would supply maintenance records and titles before pickup.
The board approved purchasing five vehicles from Lake Mary Police Department for a total reported purchase price of about $21,225; commissioners were told the dealer will assemble maintenance records and titles for transfer when the transporter picks up the vehicles. The board also authorized selling multiple sheriff vehicles and accepted a purchase offer (or trade arrangement) that the board estimates will return about $49,500 in proceeds once the sales are complete.
Commissioners and staff discussed disposal options (auction sites versus selling as a lot to a single buyer) and the county’s goal to limit staff time and transportation costs. The board said net proceeds from sales will be added to county funds according to standard fiscal practice.
Motions to accept the donated vehicle, purchase the Lake Mary vehicles, and to sell surplus sheriff vehicles all passed by voice votes; commissioners present voted in favor.
