County staff say transfer‑station expansion design nearly complete; KDHE submission next step

He said the firm’s design is nearly complete, with only a few minor items remaining before the county schedules a study session to review the design and any remaining fee adjustments.
Jeff said the next steps are for the engineer to notify the county that the final changes are complete, for staff to schedule a study session or bring the design to the board for review, and then to submit the design package to KDHE for permitting and review. County staff noted nominal fees associated with the final design changes and said they will report any budget adjustments to the board when those figures are available.
Why it matters: A transfer‑station expansion could change long‑term disposal capacity and operations for Franklin County. Staff said they expect to return to the board later this year or in the near future with the finalized design and cost implications.
