The Dickinson City Commission on Oct. 7 confirmed the Dickinson Area Public Library Board’s nomination of Susan Josephson to fill a one-year vacancy left by a resignation.
Deputy City Administrator Carlson told the commission that library board member Lou Kurt resigned for medical reasons and the library board, using a prior candidate scoring list from July interviews, nominated Susan Josephson to fill the seat.
Josephson addressed commissioners, saying she had applied previously and that she is “honored to serve,” adding personal background: she has been a Dickinson resident for 12 years, said “my mom was a librarian and I’ve been a patron of libraries since I was 5 years old,” and described volunteer and programming involvement with the Dickinson library. Carlson recommended approval of the appointment.
Commissioner Bair moved to approve the appointment; Commissioner Riddle seconded. The commission voted unanimously in favor. Josephson will serve the one-year term specified by the library board’s nomination process.
