The Delaware County Board of Elections voted to relocate the Parkside precinct polling place to Parkside Elementary School for the Nov. 4 municipal election, approving the site 2-1 after board members reviewed a site survey and heard public comment. The board also approved three additional polling-site adjustments without opposition: moving Upper Providence 1 to Greater Philly Church (temporary), moving Radnor 32 from a church to a library, and keeping Radnor 52 at JCHAI going forward.
The Parkside decision followed public comment from residents who urged a neutral site and from long-time voters who opposed the change. "The polling place really should be moved to a truly neutral public building, our school," resident Lisa Cascherell told the board, citing parking and ADA access. Howard Pritchard, another Parkside resident, said, "I've been there 36 years. I've never had a problem there." Board member Zickens said he would vote against the Parkside move, saying the petition did not compel him to change the site.
Olin Yancey of the warehouse staff presented the facility surveys. "The school passed inspection," Yancey said; he reported the school offered more handicap parking and more space than the firehouse it would replace. The board noted it had held a lengthy hearing on the Parkside proposed move in April and that school-district officials and county staff had continued to work on adjustments since then. Board members thanked Yancey and the warehouse team for completing the survey work.
For the other three sites, Allen and Yancey reported the changes were driven by scheduling conflicts or space concerns: Greater Philly Church is a temporary replacement while a venue undergoes construction, Radnor 32 was moved to a library to provide more space and to address a church pastor s concerns about campaign signage, and Radnor 52 will remain at JCHAI after Saint Aloysius signaled it could only host November elections going forward.
The board took the Parkside vote separately; the motion carried by a 2-1 tally. A subsequent motion to move Upper Providence 1 to Greater Philly Church, to move Radnor 32 to the library, and to keep Radnor 52 at JCHAI was approved unanimously.
The board directed staff to notify affected voters. Allen said the county will send additional mailings where needed to minimize confusion from site changes that could otherwise alternate across elections.
Ending: County staff said they will post signage at affected sites, mail notices to affected voters, and include the changes on DelcoVotes and other public materials ahead of Nov. 4.
