Commission approves minor modification to Huntington Village drive radius to allow emergency and trash vehicles

Applicant Skyler Wells said the current 10-foot radius at the private-road terminus prevents larger vehicles — including trash and emergency apparatus — from entering the site without multiple maneuvers. The commission and city staff reviewed an engineer's layout that expands the flare at the road end and adjusts the sidewalk and handicap ramp grades as necessary. City staff said the work falls within the right-of-way and is acceptable pending city-engineer review.
Commissioner Perkins moved to approve the modification; Commissioner Kelly seconded. The motion passed by roll call vote, 6-0.
Why it matters: The change is intended to ensure reliable emergency access and routine municipal service (trash collection) to an existing subdivision and reduce the need for on-street maneuvers that can block traffic.
