Parks and Recreation and Community Services Director Jeanette (last name not specified) told the State of the City audience that the next step for the Carpinteria pool renovation is to issue a request for proposals for architectural consulting services and to continue pursuing grant funding.
“I anticipate posting [the RFP] in October,” Jeanette said. She said the city has submitted two grant applications to date: one state grant request for $500,000 that requires a 50% match and another grant request for $250,000. Staff will pursue additional funding, and once there is a more accurate cost estimate the city may launch fundraising campaigns or identify other funding sources to cover the full project cost.
Jeanette described a standard delivery sequence: selection of a consultant through the RFP process, contract execution, then design. She said staff are monitoring funding opportunities and will combine grants, potential matches and fundraising to build the project budget.
Ending: Jeanette encouraged interested residents and potential funders to follow project notices and said staff will provide updates when the RFP is released and when grant awards are known.
