Maddie McAllister, public information officer for the City of Orange City, announced that the city will hold a budget workshop Monday, Aug. 11, at 6:30 p.m. and a regular City Council meeting Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 6:30 p.m. Both sessions will take place in the City Council chambers at 201 North Holly Avenue and will be livestreamed on YouTube.
"This is the OC Minute, everything you need to know in 1 municipal minute," McAllister said. She asked residents to consult the city's website for agenda details and noted that in-person attendance is an option for both meetings.
McAllister also opened sign-ups for the Halloween Bullock Party, seeking treat vendors and community groups, and said applications are now open for the city's Christmas parade. She encouraged interested groups to reserve spots through the city website.
She reminded residents that Florida's disaster preparedness sales tax holiday began Aug. 1, offering temporary sales-tax exemptions on certain hurricane and disaster preparedness items. McAllister cited common examples of eligible purchases, including batteries, tarps and generators, and pointed listeners to the city's hurricane preparedness guide available on the website. She emphasized that the city is in hurricane season and urged residents to use the resources posted online.
For event sign-ups, livestream links and the hurricane preparedness guide, McAllister directed listeners to the City of Orange City's website and the city's YouTube channel.
