He outlined his background as a longtime UAW Local 600 union leader and noted experience as a Romulus city council member before resigning that seat because of the county role. Wilson said he will use two legislative aides in his office and that his stated goal is to respond to constituent inquiries within 24 hours and provide a timetable for resolving issues when possible.
Wilson said the downriver communities have different needs than Detroit-area commissioners and that he will work to secure funding for local priorities including dirt-road repairs and flood mitigation. He encouraged residents to contact his office by phone or email; he said he had been visiting Flat Rock and other cities in his district to introduce himself.
