Mayor Ballard told the Flat Rock City Council the city is preparing to meet with the consultants who produced a draft dam study to present a compiled list of issues and omissions the city believes were not addressed.
Ballard said the draft will be finalized by the consultant by the end of the month and the city has been preparing a list of items it believes were missing or insufficiently researched. The mayor said he expects the city attorney to attend the meeting with the consultants and that city department heads are assembling the concerns the council wants raised.
The mayor said the city will hold its internal meeting before meeting with the consultants so councilors will have a clear set of items to discuss at that joint meeting. He said the city had expected to be involved during the study’s preparation and that the condensed schedule has required the city to aggregate its comments at once. Ballard said the council should know next steps after the scheduled meeting and that the city cannot present a public meeting until the draft is finalized and internal review is complete.
No formal council action on the study was recorded at the meeting; the mayor said the city will report back at the next council meeting after the planned meeting with the study authors and their legal counsel.
