Sun Valley PSD asks Harrison County for letter supporting critical-needs water funding for Indian Run

Greg Dale, chair of Sun Valley Public Service District, told the Harrison County Commission that about 20 households in the Indian Run/Cherry Camp area lack safe water and are relying on hauled water or temporary deliveries and asked the commission to send a letter of support to the governor to help secure critical-needs funding.
Dale said residents’ water is “orange” and odorous, that preliminary engineering has been completed and the PSD could advertise the project within about 45 days if funding is released, but that the application is stalled between the Public Service Commission and the governor’s office. He estimated the project cost at approximately $2 million and said there is a “critical needs” fund of roughly $13 million statewide that could cover the work.
Dale asked commissioners to provide a letter of support to the governor and noted local legislators and county officials had been contacted. County staff acknowledged the request and a commissioner asked the administrator to prepare a support letter.
