The San Mateo County Planning Commission on Aug. 13 adopted a resolution recognizing Commissioner Frederick Hansen’s service to the commission.
Deputy staff member (identified in the transcript as Mr. Manojis) introduced the resolution and described Hansen’s contributions, including design expertise, historical knowledge and advocacy for public participation. Commissioner remarks and public comments followed. Commissioner Gupta and others recalled Hansen’s diligence, site visits and leadership at public meetings; several current and former commissioners and planning staff thanked him for his years of service. Jackie Rigoni, representing Supervisor Corzo’s office, said Hansen helped interview and recommend the incoming district 2 planning commissioner, Adam Nugent, whose appointment will go before the Board of Supervisors on Aug. 26.
Former commissioner Ramirez and planning staffer Bharat Singh offered public comments thanking Hansen. Hansen spoke briefly, reflecting on his experience and saying he had enjoyed the role and valued the commission’s work.
Commissioner Gupta moved to approve the resolution honoring Frederick Hansen; Commissioner Garcia seconded. The roll call vote was recorded as: Commissioner Garcia — aye; Commissioner Gupta — aye; Commissioner Hansen — abstain; Chair Serrano Quan — aye. The motion carried 3–1.
The commission recessed briefly for photographs following the action.
