She said she has worked at Anacostia Middle Campus for five years. "I'm so excited to be principal of AMC because I'll have an opportunity to touch and impact all of the teachers in our building, which will then impact all of our students," Ray said.
Ray described the school community as tightly connected and noted that many staff members are Washington, D.C., natives from Anacostia. She said that local staff who have "been in similar circumstances and who have also saw success" help shape the school's approach and relationships with students.
She closed by saying she looks forward to partnering with families and meeting them in the coming weeks. "I'm excited to just be in partnership with all of you. So I can't wait to meet you and see you," Ray said.
