Cibolo reports road projects, community center reopening and local grant awards

I'm sorry. 1 week project," indicating the mayor corrected himself and reported the Silver Wing work as a short one‑week job. He said Town Creek Road reconstruction is scheduled to begin Sept. 8 and is expected to take "90 days" (about three months). Allen said a Firebird Run project will start in early November and is expected to run about 75 days. The mayor also noted that Julio, the city’s new public works director, told the council the final layer on Green Valley Road between Dean Road and Saratoga would be laid on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
Facility reopening and events: Allen announced the grand reopening of the facility now called the Cibolo Community Center (formerly the Noble Group Event Center) is scheduled for Sept. 21; he said the center will house the city’s senior program. He also reported the council approved allowing the Granville Sea Cogs Lodge to use the new Cibolo Community Event Center for a children's toy distribution on Dec. 6 after the Christmas parade (first come, first served).
Awards and grants: The mayor said the council presented a five‑year service award to Diana Guzman of the finance department. He also said the council presented strategic partnership grant award checks to Miss Cibolo, CASA and "others," but did not list the other recipients in the recap.
