Weston updates paving schedule: Weston Ave, Schofield Ave, Fuller Street and Ross Ave projects discussed

Public Works staff briefed the committee on active and upcoming street projects, including finishing surface paving on Weston Avenue, preparing Schofield Avenue for spring 2025 construction, and a public information meeting on Fuller Street.
“a lot of asphalt is gonna be going down this week,” Michael (Public works staff) told the committee, describing work by American Asphalt across several village projects. He said the final layer of asphalt on West And Avenue (just east of X) was paved the previous week and that pavement markings and shoulder work will follow. Michael added American Asphalt is moving between village projects as weather allows.
On Weston Avenue, staff reported concrete curb and gutter was finished on the Alderson–Birch Street segment; binder was scheduled and the contractor planned to place surface as weather permits. Schofield Avenue design work with Clark Dietz is underway, with bidding anticipated in early spring 2025; staff said they may procure traffic-signal elements in December or January to avoid delivery delays.
Fuller Street will have a public information meeting next Wednesday at the municipal center. Michael said project conceptually includes a multi‑use path on the east side from Rogan Lane south to Ross Avenue, and sidewalk on both sides from Rogan Lane to Ross Avenue; he compared the design to nearby Mesker Street but with a slightly narrower asphalt width and a wider grass terrace.
The committee also discussed the Ross Avenue project, which is a joint effort with the City of Schofield where one side of the street lies in Schofield and the other in Weston. Michael explained the project will include intersection work; planners are assessing the placement of a roundabout at Metro Drive and property-owner impacts.
Committee members pressed staff on lane widths, bike lanes and right-of-way consistency; Michael said the final roadway lane width will be 14 feet throughout the project and that designers plan a four-foot bike lane on the roadway in sections where multi‑use path is not provided.
No formal action was taken; staff invited committee members to attend the Fuller Street public information meeting and said design updates will return to the committee.
