Student announcers at Fort Thomas Independent delivered a set of school announcements on Oct. 8 that included a volunteer opportunity set for Saturday, Oct. 11; an upcoming varsity football game at Elder High School Friday at 7 p.m.; and reminders about homecoming and World Mental Health Day.

“Good afternoon, Bluebirds. I'm Grace with Lila, delivering your October 8 announcements,” the student announcer said at the start of the bulletin.

The bulletin said Johnson's Helibulu is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 11, and the organizers are seeking volunteers; students were directed to a sign-up link in Schoology. The announcement reminded students there will be an informational meeting about the Governor's Scholar Program on Friday after school in the library and asked students to see Mrs. Nichler with questions.

Athletics items included a varsity football game at Elder High School on Friday at 7 p.m. The announcements also celebrated the school's soccer teams: the girls won 1-0 and the boys won 4-1 in district championship matches the previous evening.

Looking ahead, the homecoming parade is scheduled for Oct. 22; the announcement invited all groups to participate and asked students to check with their coaches or sponsors to sign up. The bulletin also noted that World Mental Health Day is Friday, Oct. 10, and encouraged students to connect with friends or loved ones.

The announcer closed with routine items and staff reminders, including a birthday shout-out to Owen Cadwell, William Dirks, Jayla Gaines and Mark Schwegeman and a note that the lunch for the following day will include a chicken ranch and cheese wrap. The bulletin ended, “Have a great rest of your day, Bluebirds.”
