The Freeport City Council approved two consent-agenda items Sept. 2: the minutes of the Aug. 18 meeting and the employee holiday calendar for fiscal year 2025–26.
City staff told council the holiday calendar contains the same number of holidays as in prior years; some dates were adjusted to reflect moving holidays such as Thanksgiving but no holidays were added or removed. Council members discussed parity with the county calendar and the possibility of keeping certain facilities (rec center, museum) open on holidays to allow residents to use city services on those days; staff said department directors can address operational decisions about facility openings and comp time.
The minutes and the holiday calendar were both approved unanimously.
