Committee recommends awarding business-park repaving to RC Pavers, forwards larger repaving plan and approves bridge-deck repair

At its May 12 meeting the Village of Weston Public Works & Utility Committee recommended awarding the 2025 Business Park repaving contract to RC Pavers and forwarded larger repaving alternates for further review by finance and the village board.
Staff said two bids were received for the business-park base work: RC Pavers at $667,004.90 and American Asphalt at approximately $772,000 (rounded figures from the packet). The committee moved to recommend contract award to RC Pavers for a base bid (packet line item) of $667,490.15 and approved the recommendation by voice vote.
Separately, staff presented alternate bid items covering the hospital-area streets (Birch Street/Cranberry Boulevard and Weston Avenue/Franciscan Ministries) that would be eligible for Tax Increment Financing (TIF) dollars. Combined alternates and the base bid amounted to $1,602,064; the committee voted to recommend proceeding with those repaving alternatives contingent on finance and village-board approval of available funding.
The committee also approved a quote from Norcon to repair roughly 275 square feet of epoxy overlay on the Gotts Avenue bridge deck at a cost of $9,293. Members noted the work can be done under flagging in two to three days and that the deck’s structure remains sound.
Staff said some other paving and restoration tasks (Weston Avenue, Schofield Avenue, medians and curb-and-gutter) are underway and that the village is coordinating scheduling, message boards and public-notice steps for traffic and access during construction.
No village borrowing or TIF appropriation was finalized by the committee; the recommendation for the hospital-area alternates was contingent on finance committee and village-board action.
