County to consider MOU allowing Johns Creek EMT students ride-alongs for clinical hours

Dawson County Emergency Services asked the board June 5 to approve a memorandum of understanding with the City of Johns Creek Fire Department to allow Johns Creek EMT students and employees to ride on county ambulances for required clinical education hours.
Troy Lee said Johns Creek is a non-transport fire department whose EMT students need ambulance ride time to complete certification requirements; the department seeks agreements with transport agencies to provide clinical hours. A board member asked whether Johns Creek employees have insurance coverage while riding with county crews; Lee said the students and employees are covered.
County Attorney Miss Davis said the county has entered similar agreements before and staff expected this form would be comparable to prior MOUs. Commissioners asked no further substantive questions; staff sought approval to forward the MOU to the voting session for formal action.
