The Rockville Centre Union Free School District presented a districtwide curriculum update at its Sept. 18 public work session, outlining changes in English language arts, social studies, mathematics and science and describing new partnerships and professional learning the district plans to use to implement the changes.
The update was led by Liz Nissler and Guy Accardi, who reviewed work underway across grade levels and the district’s approach to continuous improvement. Nissler framed the work around the district’s continuous‑improvement cycle and said, “Continuous improvement always drives our work.” She described coordinated efforts to build common curricular units, expand teacher training and use assessment data to guide instruction.
