City planner Ryan Hamsey, who led the discussion of draft text amendments filed as PC-25-008, told the commission the recommendation was to continue the case to allow more public review and to finalize wording. "The recommendation is that this case be continued," Hamsey said. "I'll try to move through the items as quickly as I can, but, again, it's gonna be fairly dry no matter what, because we're dealing with the zoning code."
The draft ordinance would add and revise provisions across multiple chapters of the City of Kettering zoning code. Key proposed changes discussed by staff included creating a new "neighborhood business" zoning district intended for non-automobile-oriented commercial uses; adding short-term rental rules as requested by City Council; reclassifying microbreweries and brewpubs from industrial to commercial use; and aligning daycare outdoor-play and access standards with state requirements.
