Craig Weaver, the town treasurer, delivered his final report at the Dec. 9 meeting, reporting that November revenues exceeded expenses by about $139,000 and outlining expected near-term cash-flow items.
Weaver said revenue in late November included income-tax receipts of about $333,000 that helped the month close in surplus. He reminded the council that the Maryland State retirement contribution for the town will be due soon and that the amount is increasing; the meeting transcript reported the figure imprecisely as “about $2.15” without specifying units. Weaver noted that January typically brings real-estate tax receipts and that income-tax collections usually arrive in February, which should improve cash flow.
Weaver also reviewed recent entries in the town check register, including a $14,000 deposit from Bridal Construction Group for ongoing work, a pump replacement at the pond performed by CJ Miller, façade-improvement work and pavement marking and striping by a contractor. Council members publicly thanked Weaver for five years of service; Weaver said, “I definitely enjoyed my 5 years here,” and the council wished him well as he transitions out of his role.
Town staff introduced incoming treasurer Jen Luce, who was present at the meeting and will overlap with Weaver during a transition period. No formal council action was required on the transition during the meeting.
