VA Laredo outpatient clinic outlines fall schedule: food drive, Veterans Day event, orientations and flu shots

Cabito said the clinic holds a new-patient orientation every third Tuesday of the month to introduce services and on-site points of contact. She also announced staff changes: a new TBC employee has replaced Reggie Lewis and is on site while still obtaining full access to claims processing; Sergio Hernandez serves as a patient advocate.
On community care vouchers, Cabito advised veterans to confirm that vouchers are still valid before attending community care appointments and to contact the clinic if a voucher has expired so the clinic can issue a replacement.
The clinic is expecting flu vaccines to arrive at the end of the week; Cabito said staff plan to begin offering walk-in flu shots "starting on the 22nd" with nursing staff at the lobby to administer vaccinations. She said she would confirm details by text to make scheduling and outreach easier.
Committee members asked whether vouchers would be extended to a year; Cabito replied that voucher duration "depends on the voucher and depends on the specialty" and is not a blanket extension. A committee member asked about the next legal clinic; Cabito said it is scheduled for Sept. 23.
The announcements were informational; no committee action was taken.
