Board reports closed-session settlements, unanimously appoints Amy Kwan assistant superintendent

The Anaheim Union High School District Board of Trustees reported on several closed-session items and announced the unanimous appointment of Amy Kwan as assistant superintendent of educational services, effective Dec. 30, 2025.

The board also reported no approval action on some negotiations and personnel matters (items 4.6 and 4.7), and a unanimous vote to dismiss the employee identified as HR-2025-26-O2 (item 4.8).

The clerk then reported that the Board of Trustees unanimously voted to make the following appointment effective Dec. 30, 2025: Amy Kwan, assistant superintendent, educational services. The item on the public agenda noted the appointment was made by a unanimous board vote in closed session and read out in open session.

Amy Kwan addressed the board after the announcement. She described her two decades in public education and said she was "deeply honored to accept the role of assistant superintendent, especially given the immense talent and dedication in all of AUHSD." Kwan spoke about her background in site leadership and district office curriculum work and said she would "continue to lead as one of your students, learning from you, listening to you, and keeping you at the center, anchored in equity, opportunity, and the purpose that we exist to serve you and not the other way around."
