Miami Township Library design advances; North Bend branch planned to open in 2027

Carrie Bernard, manager for the Miami Township Library, updated the Village of North Bend council on Sept. 29 on the branch planned near the village.
Bernard said the project remains in the architectural design phase and the team is finalizing site and floor plans. “The projected opening date is 2027,” Bernard said. She told council the branch will be two stories, about 7,500 square feet—roughly triple the size of the current facility—and that community engagement prioritized lighting, accessibility and distinct spaces for different user groups.
The library will be part of the public library system and will offer a community room with reservation options; Bernard said public rental of community rooms is free for open meetings and private rentals are available for a fee. She encouraged council members and residents to follow project updates at the library system’s website and noted the architects will put the project out to bid for a guaranteed maximum price once design is complete.

Next steps: Bernard said architectural work is expected to finish in early 2026, after which bids and the guaranteed maximum price will be sought and construction scheduled toward the 2027 opening.
