Staff briefed the council on a pending request to add the City of Holiday as a member of the Central Wasatch Commission, the local interlocal agency that advances Mountain Accord goals related to transportation, recreation, economic and environmental issues in the Central Wasatch Mountains.
Austin Kimmel, council staff, explained that Salt Lake City is one of the commission’s founding members and that the interlocal agreement permits additional jurisdictions to join by a majority vote of commissioners plus legislative votes by each member. Kimmel said Holiday has received provisional approval from the commission and that council action is required by the end of August; the item is tentatively scheduled for vote at the Aug. 19 formal council meeting.
Ending The council did not vote at the work session; staff said they would present the ordinance or resolution for council action at the Aug. 19 meeting and answer any legal or procedural questions beforehand.
