Casper High School bond work on schedule and within budget, district reports
Summary
Bond program manager reported the high school addition and renovations are roughly 30% complete, the city will reimburse architects and engineers for waterline design costs, and the project’s next milestone is a topping-out ceremony in late March 2026.
Mister Holloman, providing the Castleberry High School bond construction update, told the board the project is on schedule and within budget and that several milestones are approaching.
Holloman said the project is roughly 30% complete and that the district has paid out about 29% of the guaranteed maximum price (GMP). He announced the project’s “top-out” — the placement of the highest structural element — will take place on a Wednesday at about 1 p.m. (date provided to board) and that board members are invited to the ceremony.
Holloman said the city of Fort Worth notified Superintendent Smith Faulkner that the city will reimburse the district’s architects (WRA) and engineers (RLK) for design costs associated with a planned full waterline replacement; the district will instead perform a tap-in that will be less intrusive and allow the district to be reimbursed for past design expenses. He said this change reduces schedule impacts and will shorten traffic impacts on White Settlement Road.
Photos shown to the board included interiors of the band hall, completed stair pour in Unit C (with an elevator shaft noted), the gym decking, and storm shelter framing. Holloman said Unit C connector will be open next summer and that Area B storm shelter construction uses substantially more structural material. Site work is advancing; Holloman noted an area with five feet of sand required remediation and additional work on elevations and storm drains. He also said AT&T infrastructure work at the corner of White Settlement Road and Churchill has been resolved with the company’s cooperation.
Holloman said the district will issue a rapid-turnaround RFP for furniture as select areas open sooner than others, and cautioned that furniture is a significant expense but that procuring early can protect pricing and scheduling.
Ending: No action was required; Holloman invited trustees to the topping-out event and stated the district will return with procurement items such as furniture RFPs as project phases near completion.
