Council members asked for a progress report on enforcement of the city’s food-truck ordinance, which took effect Sept. 1. Councilman Paris noted multiple food trucks were still located at gas stations and asked whether storage of the vehicles on properties like gas stations is permitted.
Caleb Bianchini, planning and zoning manager, said food trucks are permitted by special land use in the BC General Business District and certain light-industrial zones and that enforcement teams have begun issuing violations. He said commercial-vehicle rules generally prohibit long-term storage of food trucks on private property such as gas-station lots.
Council members requested a written status report showing how many trucks have been cited, the enforcement steps being used (notice of violation, ticketing, timeline to cure), and whether abatement or removal procedures would be necessary for persistent noncompliance. Staff said the economic development and enforcement divisions are coordinating and will provide a follow-up update to the council.
