Commissioners approve additional appropriation to continue 'Hornet Bucks' small‑business program

Steve Raleigh, director of economic development, asked the board for an additional appropriation from EDIT funds to continue Hornet Bucks, the county's shop-local small-business program.
Raleigh described the program as a “shop local by Warrick small business program” and said it has been “an overwhelming hit” with residents and local mom-and-pop businesses; he reported more than 84 Warrick County businesses are participating. The funding request will support a 2025 holiday promotion and carry the program into 2026.
Commissioners praised the program as beneficial to small-business owners. Commissioner Greg Richmond moved to approve the additional appropriation; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. Raleigh said he had distributed a summary to commissioners and offered to answer follow-up questions.
The appropriation will allow the county to continue Hornet Bucks marketing and promotions through the holiday period and into next year.
