Kevin Van Horn of the Boone County Council thanked Sheriff Harrison and staff for the Ernie K. Hudson Justice Center dedication and described the event as well attended. Brentwood, the county communications director, said the county posted a short video of the grand opening and apologized for a misspelling in an archived video; he urged commissioners to review his report on the county website and to decide at the next meeting whether to move website hosting to a state-contracted “concierge” service or retain more detailed service from the current contractor. He said the state option offered cost savings but potentially less hands-on service and that a decision should be made before year-end to avoid timing problems.
Andrea Hatfield of Purdue Extension gave a National 4‑H Week update, noting Boone County’s 4‑H program enrolled more than 1,000 youth this past year and that enrollment for 2025–26 began Oct. 1. Hatfield described upcoming workshops including composting and a holiday budgeting email program and invited volunteers.
Boone County Prosecutor Kent Eastwood urged commissioners to provide more information to elected officials about any proposed website changes, asking whether hosting changes would affect elected officials’ ability to update and maintain their pages. He requested that elected officials be consulted before the county makes a website-hosting decision.
No formal actions were taken on the website report at the meeting; staff requested commissioners review the materials and be prepared to decide at the next meeting.
