The Escanaba City Council on Oct. 2 opened public hearings and approved two related actions under the Obsolete Property Rehabilitation Act (OPRA) for 1213 Ludington Street.
Kurt Spalding, who said he is the current or prospective owner of the property, told the council the site is planned as a high-end martini lounge and that the applicants are requesting the OPRA district and associated tax-exemption to leverage state support for rehabilitation. “We are the current owner or to be the current owners of 1213 Ludington Street,” Spalding said during the public hearing.
