A BPAC member summarized submissions: electronic and paper proposals totaled nine firms, including Giffels Webster; Mannik Smith Group; MERJE; Wade Trim; Tangram; Corbin Design; Valley City Sign; Destination by Design; and FD2S plus Mapwell Studio and Kimberly Horn. The member said some proposals appeared to exceed available funds and highlighted that certain firms have fabrication and installation capabilities while others are primarily design consultants.
Commissioners noted an existing FY budget balance: the township started the fiscal year with a little over $400,000 and has spent about $120,000, leaving capacity for capital projects but raising trade‑off questions. Members discussed seeking additional grants or shared funding contributions from land conservancies or partners to offset costs.
Several commissioners said they preferred a shortlist of affordable proposals that met the requested scope; candidates named included Wade Trim and Giffels Webster. No contractor award was made. Members agreed to review proposals further and consider an action item at the next meeting to move toward a formal selection and funding decision.
