The commission discussed a renewal of an equipment millage scheduled for 2026. The chief said the renewal would be for equipment only — including fire apparatus and ambulances — and that it would not raise the current millage rate. The commission had not decided whether the vote would be scheduled for the primary or general election.
The chief said the department expects delivery of an aerial ladder truck in November and that the department plans a public welcome event when the truck arrives so residents can view the apparatus. The chief also noted recent community outreach: a 09/11 ceremony and badge pinning in September that received coverage in the township’s print newsletter, and participation in a school fundraiser where donated fire-truck rides were auctioned.
On routine business, the commission approved the meeting agenda, the minutes from September 2025 and the September expense report by voice votes. The chief summarized the expenses, saying, “Looking over the expenses for the month, it looks like we're on track for another successful quarter. There's no expenditures out of the ordinary. Everything's within the budget. Nothing to report.”
The meeting ended after public comment produced no speakers and the commission moved to adjourn.
The commission said it will prepare millage literature and notify the public once timing and wording are finalized. The chief said he will provide updates about the ladder-truck delivery and the planned public welcome event.
