The Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors on Oct. 13 approved the meeting agenda and minutes, approved claims and payroll (warrant No. 1042025) and forwarded a manure management report to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, while pulling claim No. 302983 for further review.

The routine business occurred during the board’s regular session. Supervisors voted by voice to approve the claims and payroll as presented; during the claims discussion one supervisor asked that claim No. 302983 be pulled from the consent approval for additional review. The board then approved payroll with warrant number 1042025 and approved the recorder’s reported fees and claims as presented.

County Engineer Spencer Nielsen updated the board on ongoing public-works work. Nielsen said the culvert replacement on Hickory (referred to as the C20D cohort replacement) was finished Friday and the road is open. He said crews are applying dust control and preparing equipment for winter, and that ditch cleaning and work at the fairgrounds are planned. Nielsen also reported a guardrail on B20 near I-35 was hit and appears to need replacement, and that a John Deere excavator is in shop repair after a planetary gear failure; other grader equipment is also being serviced.

On the manure management item, the board approved and directed the county to forward the report to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources; the record shows no increase in spreading reported in the submission.

There was no new drainage report filed at the meeting. The board adjourned at approximately 2:04 p.m.
